The Lamb
“He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.” Isaiah 53:7
Jesus was the perfect sacrifice, and He was also the Good Shepherd (John 10:11). He calls us to be like sheep and follow Him, trusting in Him to guide the way and lead us to green pastures (Psalm 23).
The Altar
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13
”And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” 2 Corinthians 5:15
”I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me.” Galatians 2:20
The Lion
“Then one of the elders said to me, ‘Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.’” Revelation 5:5
Jesus came first as a lamb to be the sacrifice for our sins and He will return as a victorious lion to wage war against Satan and the powers of darkness. The Victory is already His! As a Christian, I want to share this Good News with the same spirit of victory, declaring the righteousness of Christ as the conquering King!
The New Heaven
“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12
”When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: ‘Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.’” Revelation 1:17
Every time someone encountered Jesus in all His glory in scripture, they fell to their knees in awe. Though not named in the song, the events of Heaven are described as we finally get to see Jesus face to face.
